Main categories of summer gloves

The categories we have selected are short gloves and motocross gloves. These 2 categories are perfect for summer because of their production materials and/or because of their shape.

We recommend wearing motocross gloves only off-road because their resistance to asphalt roads is very low. Short gloves, on the other hand, offer a higher level of safety for road use. They are generally made out of leather and other stong materials.

Motocross gloves

Motocross gloves are usually made out of Nylon and polyester with some reinforced protections on the vulnerable areas such as knuckles. Because of their material, motocross gloves give excellent dexterity and are usually very light.

They are like a lighter version of short gloves that most riders love for very hot summer days. Because of their short wrist cut, they are perfect for cooling your forearms while riding.

A convenient aspect of short “sleeves” or wrist cuts, is that they’re incredibly practical to put on. But I want to emphasize the fact that we don’t recommend wearing them on asphalt roads.

Short gloves

They are cold short gloves because of their short wrist cut. Motocross gloves and short gloves have similar shapes but are made out of different materials. The short glove is made out of leather and other strong materials such as TPU. Our short glove selection only features gloves with hard reinforcements on the knuckles because we think it’s a must-have for all motorcycle gloves.

The short gloves are usually light and comfortable, they also leave you forearms free from long wrist sleeves. Easy to wear with any jacket, short gloves are my personal favorite even though they don’t protect your forearms during falls…

Without any further due, let’s jump into our comparative review of the best summer motorcycle gloves.

Best motocross gloves

1 – KLIM DAKAR

The Klim Dakar comes in 4 different colors, a black one with yellow touches, an orange one with blue and black touches, a beige one with orange and black touches, and a blue one with yellow and black touches.

The Klim Dakar is mainly made out of nylon and other light materials. However, Klim made it durable thanks to reinforced thumb overlay, hourglass finger construction, and TPR knuckle protection.

The Dakars are generally very comfortable thanks to improved fits and new designs.

There are silicone prints on the index, the middle fingertip and on the palm for better grip in extreme conditions. Additionally, the thumb and index fingertips are touchscreen compatible.

The Klim Dakar feels very comfortable, but its purpose for motocross riders. I won’t recommend buying them for road usage. The nylon is just not strong enough for sliding on the asphalt roads.

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Ventilation
  • Silicone prints for better grip

Cons:

  • Not made with leather
  • Poor Knuckles protections

The Bombers are made out of Nylon, Polyester, Pittards leather and mesh. There is also polycarbonate for knuckle protection.

The main aspect of the Bombers is its incredible ability to breath. In fact, there is new finger gusset material that drastically increases breathability and resistance.

The cool feature is the silicone print on the fingertips for 2 finger braking or clutching. In addition, the Bombers have adjustable cuff straps.

The thumbs and palms have double layer Clarino reinforcements.

Again, I would recommend these gloves for what the intended, off-road and motocross.
